Helena Lazaretou

 
 

 Helena Lazaretou was born in Athens and studied piano at the Conservatory “Nikos Skalkotas” (teacher Youli Troussa). In 1998, she received a degree in Harmony and in Piano with the grade of “Excellent” and two years later, she received a Piano Diploma with “Excellent” and the first prize.

 Having won a three-year scholarship by the Public Benefit  Foundation of “Alexander Onassis” , she took graduate studies in solo piano and in chamber music at the Salzburg Musical University of “Mozarteum” with teacher George Kern.

She continued her studies at the Vienna Music University (Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst) with the teacher and director of the Department of Chamber Music Avedis Kouyoumdjian.

Moreover, she attended master classes at “Mozarteum” for solo piano and chamber music with teacher Vassily Lobanov as well as chamber music classes with teacher Thomas Riebl and later on at the University of Vienna, chamber music classes with teacher Enrst Kovacic.

At the same time, she attended Monody Classes with the baritone- soloist of the National Opera Dionisios Troussas.

As a soloist, she first appeared at “Parnassos Hall” in Athens. Numerous concerts at various cities of Athens and abroad followed. She has participated in festivals in Crete: “Kirvia” of Ierapetra and “Kornaria” of Sitia, as well as in festivals in Eretria and Porto Heli.

She has collaborated with “Mozarteum” Orchestra.

Since summer 2010, she has been a member of HARMONIA MISTURATA, a triplet of piano, bass (Yoel Soto) and percussion (Carlos Menendez) which with the blending of classical music and traditional sounds of Latin America achieves a “composite harmony”. They have made concerts at halls: Athenaeum (5/5/11), Onassis Cultural Center (23/6/11), Bayerisher Hof Munich (14/12/11) and Parnassos (3/3/12).

A special aspect of her piano activities is modern music. Her involvement started in February 2010, performing on first run the work for piano and cello “Cellisimo” of composer Michael Travlos, at the Concert Hall of Goethe Institute, continued with first run performances of works for solo piano and chamber music of many new Greek composers. She participates in the cd production for the book with chamber music works “Musical Rain” of composer Yola Voutsina by Cambia Books.
